First Labor Experience

The Little Details:

• 2 prodromal visits

  • Did any other mamas go in early?!

• Epidural

  • This was in my birth plan- contractions are INSANE

• 7.5 Hours from admission

• Boy

• 39 Weeks and 2 days

  • five days early

The Experience:

I’ll never forget the moment the doctor said “It’s time to push” instantly I was ready. I immediately began crying and saying “now? I get to meet my boy now?”

On 7/22/22, at 7:36PM I became a mother. I met my son. It was the most incredible thing I had ever experienced, it was euphoric. Never in my life had I felt such raw emotion.

The love swelled throughout my whole body seeing him, hearing him, holding his little itty bitty hands, smelling his newborn baby head, watching my husband meet him.

In that moment, in that 7 minutes it took them to lay you on my chest, I changed forever.

I knew, I’d do anything for this little boy.

Watching the staff rub your back to get you crying, watching your daddy watch you, ignoring the doctor working on me, focusing all my energy on you (the little energy I should have had after the marathon I had just gone through), wanting you, waiting to hold you and introduce myself and your daddy, waiting to look in those big blue eyes and tell you how much I love you.

In that seven minutes, I became the strongest version of myself, for him.
